COMMITTEES

The SGVCOG is governed by a 34-member Governing Board that dictates policy for the agency. The By-laws also provide for the creation of policy committees and technical advisory committees that develop additional analysis and recommendations to the Governing Board.

There are currently five policy committees, including Capital Projects and Construction Committee, Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources (EENR) Committee, Homelessness Committee, and Transportation Committee. There are also four technical advisory committees (TACs), including City Managers' Steering Committee, Planning Directors' TAC, Public Works TAC, and Water TAC. 

 

Additionally, the Executive Committee provides guidance on matters being considered on Governing Board agendas and any other matters directed by the Governing Board.

GOVERNING BOARD

The Governing Board has authority to conduct the affairs of the SGVCOG and implements the policy direction adopted in the SGVCOG Strategic Plan. Additionally, the Governing Board acts upon policy direction from SGVCOG committees and external agencies, appoints committees to study specific policies and programs, and approves the SGVCOG Annual Budget.

The Executive Committee provides guidance on matters being considered on Governing Board agendas and any other matters directed by the Governing Board.

CAPITAL PROJECTS AND CONSTRUCTION COMMITTEE

Yanin Rivera, Management Analyst

The SGVCOG Capital Projects and Construction Committee reviews, advises, and provides recommendations on construction projects throughout the San Gabriel Valley. The SGVCOG Governing Board has final approval authority with respect to any such projects and related implementation of agreements.

CITY MANAGERS' STEERING COMMITTEE

The SGVCOG City Managers' Steering Committee provides assistance and support to the Governing Board and Executive Committee. The committee oversees certain policy and financial matters for the SGVCOG and is consisted of city managers from San Gabriel Valley cities.

ENERGY, ENVIRONMENT, AND NATURAL RESOURCES (EENR) COMMITTEE

The SGVCOG Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources (EENR) Committee studies environmental, energy, and natural resources issues of regional significance, including but not limited to air quality, water resources, solid waste, and energy, and provides policy direction in these areas to the Governing Board.

The Planning Directors' Working Group provides input on work programs, budgets, priorities, policies, programs, and practices related to planning and community development matters in the San Gabriel Valley.

The SGVCOG Transportation Committee studies problems, programs and other matters which pertain to the regional issues of mobility, air quality, transportation control measures. The committee also provides policy recommendations to the Governing Board on issues related to transportation.

The Water Working Group provides technical expertise and input on issues related to water resources, water quality, and wastewater management in the San Gabriel Valley.
